Why OM Business Services Was Founded
OM Business Services grew out of a simple observation: many smaller organizations need more than basic bookkeeping, but less than a traditional full-service accounting firm. They need someone who will understand how the organization works, help keep the records accurate, explain what the numbers mean, and provide practical guidance when questions arise.
That is the role we set out to fill. Our focus is not on building a large practice. It is on working closely with a manageable number of clients and providing thoughtful, reasonably priced accounting support that fits their needs.
We are not trying to be everything to everyone. We are built to be useful to smaller organizations that value direct, practical financial help.
Built on Business Experience
The perspective behind OM Business Services comes from more than accounting coursework or software training. It is shaped by decades of business, technical, and entrepreneurial experience.
That background matters because financial questions rarely exist in isolation. A bookkeeping issue may really be a pricing issue. A cash-flow problem may be connected to operations. A confusing financial report may reflect a poor accounting structure rather than poor performance. We try to look at the whole picture.
Accounting Knowledge That Continues to Grow
OM Business Services combines practical experience with continuing accounting education and professional development. Our work includes bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax preparation, budgeting, financial analysis, QuickBooks support, and increasingly specialized church and nonprofit accounting.
We also continue to expand our knowledge of fund accounting and Aplos so that we can better serve churches and nonprofit organizations with financial structures that differ from ordinary businesses.
We are also a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and use tools such as QuickBooks, Aplos, Excel, and modern AI-assisted technologies where they provide genuine value. We do not believe software should drive the accounting system. The accounting system should be designed around the needs of the organization, with technology used to make that system more efficient and useful.
Our Approach
Accurate records are essential, but they are only the starting point.
We want clients to understand their financial information, not simply receive reports they never use. That means asking questions, organizing accounts in a way that makes sense, looking for trends, identifying unusual items, and helping clients see what their financial records may be telling them.
We also believe accounting should be proportionate to the size and complexity of the organization. Smaller organizations should have good systems and strong financial controls, but those systems should not become so complicated that they interfere with the work the organization exists to do.
Personal Service by Design
OM Business Services is intentionally small. Clients are not passed from salesperson to bookkeeper to support desk. We work directly with the people responsible for the business or organization and become familiar with their operations, priorities, and financial questions.
That allows us to provide continuity and context. When a question comes up, we are not starting from scratch. We already understand how the organization works and why the question matters.

We are a good fit for organizations that want a close working relationship with someone who understands both accounting and the practical realities of running a smaller organization.
